Our Second Thursday

July 10th – Thursday
We have started our seconds, our second Wednesday night service our second Thursday.

Today was a good day, we got off to a slow start which is not that unusual here. Devotions are suppose to start at nine but they have started anywhere from 9 – 11:30. We were hanging out with some of the younger girls from the neighborhood and one decided she needed to do my hair, she is about 4, she was non to gentle and the style was out of this world. We then went and did some swinging. But this did not sit well with my stomach so I went to lay down but they followed me, so I reached an all time low and closed the door in their faces. But it was that or throw up on them.
Devotions went well and afterwards they locked us out of the church so we didn’t do English. We went and hung out under the tree with some of the young ladies and ate fruit popsicles. We then played some futball and then went back to sitting under the tree. There was no monsoon building today so it was rather hot.
Eventually Monkey, Dora and Twin(those aren’t their real names but we keep asking them what their names are and they weren’t telling us so that is what we started calling them) came and grabbed us and we went to the play structure and played for a little bit. Two of the younger boys decided we needed to climb the tree with them so we did. As we climbed the tree we realized that Monkey can’t climb trees, just Americanos, this was a pleasant discovery. We thought that the boys might break themselves, can you believe that in 15 years of ministry here they have never had a broken bone? Anyways we really thought they might get their first. Christopher climbed up to the very top of the tree and then stood on to separate small branches and raised his arms in the air in a victory stance. After they were done with this tree they moved to the next tree which was next to the wall. As we were following in our less agile fashion we looked over and Dora had used a board that was leaning against the wall and was standing on top of the 9 ft wall that is only about 8 in wide and was trying to walk to us. I jumped out of the tree and ran up the board to try and get her. But she couldn’t decide if she wanted to continue to Arielle, about halfway down the wall, or come to me. I didn’t want to approach her incase she decided to run. She made the right decision and came to me. ;-) We then played some more with Dora, Twin and Monkey until it was lunch time.
The afternoon was filled with the normal type activities, dishes, futball, volleyball, hair, sleep, hiding from Monkey (she has an amazing grip). Eventually the older girls came to our room and we all did hair and had some good laughs over the Spanish/English words for fart and discovered new ways to make fart noises. I was rather surprised at this whole conversation because they do not give off that type of impression. We also gave them some sour patch kids and their faces were priceless, we felt it was a nice revenge for the chili and salsa.
We discussed and planned some kingsey stuff. Played some more ball had dinner and then Artura got our internet working! This led to a great Skype with our Madre. We stayed up rather late doing internet stuff since we were unsure if it would still be working in the morning.

Krista-K: Be sure to remember the words for fart you learned today so you can have fun with and teach Uncle Nate. :):):):):) Precious times in ministries when you just get to chill out with and get to know folks deeply.

So glad your internet is still working. Laughing about you shutting the door in their faces.
