A Nice Breath of Fresh Air

July 15th – Tuesday
Today was a good day! We had our morning devotions and Lilia shared, after she shared she put on some worship music and we all had some private Jesus time. Arielle and I then made sandwhiches while they all went next door to the viewing.
While we were making sandwhiches I brought my Ipad into the kitchen to listen to more Jesus music. But it wasn’t long before Martin, one of Arielle’s protectors, showed up. We changed the music to What Does the Fox Say and it was a hit! We then found it in Spanish which led to finding it Minecraft style which led to Gandam style Minecraft style. At this point everyone else was showing up and we had lunch, I was shocked to see that it was 1 o’clock. The rest of the day seemed to really drag because we ate so early.
The gentleman who is a baker was back today to teach the children how to make doughnuts. Arielle and I were super excited to hear we were going to have doughnuts! We watched this process for a while and watched a little Karate Kid. While the dough was rising and everyone else was watching Karate Kid, I went to try and finish figuring out my email situation. I am happy to announce it is up and running again. Arielle came in and joined me and almost everyone had left to go to the cemetery. Well she was telling me about her moving viewing experience which led to our next project. But first her story.

It wasn’t long after Krista left the TV room that one of the older girls came in. We all watched Karate Kid for awhile in happy silence when, out of nowhere, the before mentioned older girl lifted her shirt up, laid on the floor and started farting! It was hilarious to watch everyone’s faces as all eyes looked down;) she had shown me this trick before while we were doing hair. If you lay down just right your back makes a farting noise! And if you’re REALLY talented you can keep up a continual farting noise;^P go ahead..I know you want to try it!;^)  Of course the guys decided they had to join in with their armpit farts (which I have never been able to perfect) shortly followed by the girls attempting to “fart” with the back trick. After everyone had perfected their farting noises they went to get Arturo. They brought him into the room, had him close his eyes and FARTED! His face was also epic when he opened his eyes. Slightly distracting from my movie time but it was worth the sacrifice;-).
Well as Arielle was telling this story one thing led to another and of course we had to try. Purely for the sake of connecting better with the children of course! Well at first it was not working and we had about decided that we did not have enough fat on our backs to participate in this activity when Arielle figured it out. She is by far the better back farter but I was getting there. Well of course we had to document this activity with pictures for the blog. But they weren’t doing it justice so I took a video.

Everyone was home now so we went out to join them, and they were preparing to cook all of the lovely doughnut and cinnamon rolls and twisty yumminess. Well it only seemed appropriate to show them the video of Arielle. They all really loved it! Martin was fairly hyper and had just watched Karate Kid and eaten a bunch of sugar so he kept trying to kick everyone. Arielle and I might have wound him up a little bit more. They gave Arielle and I both 2(!) cinnamon rolls straight from the fryer and covered in cinnamon sugar. They were SSSOOOO good but we were feeling about as buzzed as Martin so we went outside and played on the playground with some of the children.

We were twisting the swing Christopher was sitting in up and then pushing it really hard. One of us was always guarding the large metal pull for those concerned. He loved it and has a great stomach we decided. I was also climbing on top of the monkey bars with the girls. Somewhere in there we also played some futball. It is all rather blurred, it was a lot of sugar…
We were shocked when they called us in for dinner at 6! Then after dinner they told us not to do the dishes but to go take a nap, play at the playground or work out. Well Arielle and I both do P90x and had been missing it so we jumped on that and told Arturo to tell the girls to meet us in 10 minutes in the chapel to work out. We then went and pulled up a list of the exercises for Plyometric and with that and some Skillet we were set!
We were laughing as the girls all started showing up with doughnuts in hand. It quickly became apparent to them that we weren’t doing Zumba, which is what they normally do. I eventually had to go get Lilia to explain that we didn’t know any Zumba dances (Arielle says ‘sorry we are pathetic American girls who can’t move our hips’) that we were teaching them a different type of work routine. We settled on we would do a section of plyometrics and then they would teach us a dance. This was an amusing combination of exercises, it was clear we weren’t going to be able to finish the whole routine so we stopped after the first four sections, there are normally five sections and a bonus set. We then started doing Ab Ripper X this was a little rough on the backs since the floor is hard tile.

We then danced around for a little bit and listened to music it was enjoyable for all involved. At this point it had cooled off outside, it was really rather stifling inside, so we went outside and did some nightly fun activities.
