An Amazing Week

So this week has been amazing... let me give you the highlights.

Sunday: The Dorms opened and we had our first meeting with the school. After our meeting which were generic welcome to college type meetings there was a BBQ. I ate at the BBQ and then went to work.

Monday: We had lots of meeting that were just explaining how things work and such. I enjoyed getting to know different people and learn about them. The church in Hawaii took an offering to raise money to give laptops to ebc incoming students. The offering was between $80,000-$92,000. So ALL incoming students that wanted one received a free netbook. Both Bre and received one. I am so blessed it has a working battery, is light, and the wireless works on it. That evening they had different gathering for people. Bre and I are apart of the off campus grouping so we went with that group. Well it really was not much of a group it was Bre and I Mr. and Mrs. B (they know you two) there daughter and one other gentleman from ebc. After this I went to work.

Tuesday: We had more meetings and finished are academic placement testing (started them on Monday). I was told in a meeting on Monday that only 20% of high school students come into college ready for college level math (nation wide stat). They also said that only 75% of incoming students are ready for college English. So what they new is they have you take a bunch of test to determine if you are ready for college level stuff and if your not they put you in intermediate classes that you have to pay for but don't get college credit. I thought that for sure I was going to be placed in the lowest possible English classes. I used to be really good at math but since I have not had to use any of the mathematical formulas in over 4 years I was worried about how I was going to do. After taking the math test I figured I had probably placed in the highest intermediate class but I was hoping for the college level. They also do a biblical knowledge test. They have you take it when you start EBC and when you graduate to see how much we are learning. That evening I went and met my academic adviser at her house. Then I went to work.

Wednesday: was registration day. I was finally allowed to register for classes and get the total for this term. I was one of the first to complete the process. I got every class that I wanted. When I went to pay for my first term I had an amazing shock. Over the summer I was quoted about $2400 a term. so I was expecting a little under that because I knew they had not factored in the scholarship that the central region was giving us. But what I had forgotten was all the money that I had sent in to them before to cover fees. All that money and in some cases I had sent more than was required (just because I could) was taken off of my first term. So I was expecting to owe about $2350 and instead I owed $1319. Talk about an amazing shock because of this I definitely have enough for the second term in saving and am able to start saving for the third term. Oh and I placed in college level math AND English (I really don't know how I pulled the English off). I then went to the book store and started stopping all upper class men and asking if they wanted to sell used books. By doing this I was able to buy all but 4 books used and half price. So my books only came to around $100 instead of the 2 or 3 hundred I thought they would come to. After all this I chilled for the rest of the day. Over the summer I had really wanted to start taking Hip Hop lessons but I had decided that it was not practical because of the cost. Well there is a group of students from Hawaii that are teaching different types of dance (hip hop, Singh, and hula) to EBC students for free on Wed nights (to be used in evangelism and such things). I went to the class on Wednesday night and it was really enjoyable. After all of this I went to work.

Thursday: I had my first class ever with a professor and it was biblical leadership and I really enjoyed it. I came home and started my homework for the class. Esther and her baby Josiah drove over with her dad to see us why her dad had a meeting. So I visited with Esther, Bre, Rachel and baby Josiah for an hour or so and then they headed back to WA. I finished my homework and then fell asleep (I had been out later than normal with work because of the night activities and then we had devo in the morning). I woke up talked to Bre for a little bit and headed to work.

Friday: I started the day with a public speaking classes. I then went to Biology. After Biology I had a little bit of free time between classes so I started my public speaking homework. I then went to my English class which I love the teacher. I am sure this will be my most trying class though. After that I had lunch and did some more homework. I then headed to my last class which is a Western Civ class. I think I am going to enjoy all of my classes. I went and tried out for the school play. In one of the meetings they had said they wanted everyone to try out so I thought that everyone was going to try out. But I was wrong there was not all that many people there. They are thinking of turning the play into a musical (AAAARRRRGGGG). I have not decided about participating in this yet. I then finished most of my homework and went and watch a move at the chapel. I then came home and went to bed.

Saturday: The ASB had arranged a trip to the coast and since my homework was pretty much done I went ahead and went. I was the only that decided to play in the water but I enjoyed myself and i was less cold then everyone else. I think it had to do with after you are in freezing water for a little bit normal temperatures don't seem all that bad. I am now at home by myself and I did a little more homework just because I had time and I figured it is better to get ahead.

They have a lot of humorous signs all over work and this is one of them
My desk
The top of my desk
Me taking care of the corn
So when I was in Spokane I would always By the really large things of thread because they are a LOT cheaper. The only problem being that they do not fit on the sewing machine correctly. In the past to take care of this I would stick a smaller than most thing of thread on the machine and then put the larger thread over the top. But I do not have any of the smaller things so... I used one of dads sockets and stuffed it with cotton balls and then put the larger thread on that and it worked beautifully.

I don't know

Life has been good this week. Not much going on but it was still good.

Monday was labor day and I made some curtains for the dining room and then washed Push with Bre when she got home from work. (I had the day off since nobody worked that day so there was nothing to clean lol)

Tuesday I picked up the stuff to make my desk and then started painting it. I then helped Wayne paint one of the apartments. After that I headed off to work which was uneventful.

Wednesday I finished painting my desk and hung up the curtains for the dining room. And then you guessed it I went to work.

Thursday hmm I don't know what I did on Thursday I think I just wasted time and then went to work lol.

Friday I called the reserve station about the ID card and for the third week in a row they told me that there machine would be ready next Tuesday. I then went to work because I was making up Monday.

Saturday I killed time and then went to Saturday Market with Bre and we walked around a little bit downtown and then came home and Bre went to work and I had the evening off woot.

Today we are off to church then G-ma and G-pa's for lunch and after that we will go to A Sherries and U Will's for dinner (in honor of Amy's birthday) and then I will go to work. No killing time today.

Happenings

SO...
I have been hanging out and just passing time in general. Bre and I went out for coffee with Rachel and we talked about are families and I decided that her younger sister will work perfectly for Jamin (lol). We also had Rachel over later in the week and watched First Daughter. We had Donna over on Wednesday for lunch which was a lot of fun as well. I was looking at scholarships and I found another one that I thought might work so I wrote an essay and asked P. Paul to email me a letter of recommendation. But I could not get the printer to print. I went to use the Libraries but they close at noon on Fridays and it was about 1:30 PM (the scholarship had to be post marked by or on Sept 7th which is a holiday and the weekend was approaching). I called G-ma and G-pa and they said that I could borrow there printer. I headed in that direction. I chatted with them for a little bit and then printed off the stuff that I had. I had not received the email from P Paul but I had a different letter that did not quite work as well from P Josh so since I was getting worried about the post office closing and it not getting in the mail in time I headed to the UPS store (the one we used mom). While there P Paul called and said that carol had just emailed the letter to me. I asked and was told that they did not close until 6:30PM. I went back to G-ma's and G-pa's and messed with the letter. I could not get the attachment to open I tried installing the updates and every possible thing that I could think of but the only thing that it would show was P Paul's name. So Carol emailed it to me in the actual body of the email. G-ma and set out to go and mail the stuff and to swing by Goodwill. We decided to go to the real Post office that was by the Goodwill and they had just closed. But it was okay we still had time to stop at goodwill and then get back to the UPS store. We found what we needed at Goodwill in record time I have to say. When we got to the UPS store I was told that the mail man had just come by and picked up the mail and he would not come again until Tuesday. I told her that I had to have my package post marked before Monday. So after much discussion she stamped it for today and then told me to take it to the drop off at Gateway because they did not pick up there until 9 PM. This is what we did. Talk about doing something the hard way lol.

G-ma and went back to there place and we ate a very nice dinner and then watched a old James Bond movie. Well actually G-pa and I watched the movie and tried to hear over the dogs and G-ma. I love watching movies with them it is so amusing.

Bre and I were going to go to the Saturday market with G-ma. But it was raining so instead we went groceries shopping and Bre made cookies. I called JoAnn and talked with her for a little bit she is recovering slowly but surely from her last surgery.

On Sunday they were only having one service. Bre and I volunteered to with the children which was a lot of fun Bre helped in the nursery and I helped upstairs. We then went over to A Sherries house (they were out of town with the church camp out and had left there house key with Bre and I so we could go and hang out, out there house if we wanted). She had told us that we could pick some corn, apples, and pears if we wanted to. So we took them up on there very kind offer. After we finished there we went to G-ma' and G-pa's house and had dinner (it was very good). After dinner we played a couple of games which was a lot of fun. We then went home and I went to work and Bre went to a worship night at the Smiths.

Good times

UMMM

So it has been a long time since I wrote so let me just say a few words to get caught up. Same old same old. There you go your caught up (g).

Bre and I have kept busy doing different little things. It has been fun. I went and talked to Dr. Wick about classes and got a bunch of information to think through. I ate my entire meal at Panda (first time Bre and I ate out since the family left) with chop sticks in honor of the family.

We helped out at the block party. Boy, was it weird not being intricately involved with all the details. I walked around the fair advertising the 5 min Bible stories.

Sunday was good. We went to church and then out to a bar b q. While I was standing in line with Bre, Rachel, and A.J. to get food. The lady of the house walks up with wedding pictures and says. So this is my son that I was telling you about how "he graduated from EBC with a Intercultural major. He is not married (he was the pastor in the wedding pictures), and is a very godly young man." Rachel and AJ let me know that he was very nice. During this Grandma walks up and says "Oh I want you to meat this young man and calls Roman (a young man that is heading to YWAM on Tuesday) over. And proceeds to introduce us. I turned around and ignored them all and the rest of all the people gathered around. What is it with ladies in the church trying to hook me up? Well at least this time they new the people they were referring and the son sounded like he had possibility (lol). In Spokane they would come to me and say "the guy that works at Dutch Brothers goes to Wycliffe and he is single. You should go meet him."

Yesterday I went to the Library and dropped off books and picked up new books. I then dropped off my order form at Brothers and went to the Oregon Military Reserved building (none of the phone numbers on line have been working). It was funny I arrived and I could not get any of the doors to open. Well okay I got the last door to open. And Right after I entered the police showed up behind me and after giving me a look went by. I guess an alarm went off in one of the vaults. I was told that "the navy just brought the machine in and it is suppose to be working but... it is not they said that they will have it working by tomorrow. But I don't think so it will probably be more like the end of the week." I love the inter branch trust (lol) he gave me the correct phone number so I can call before driving out there again.

I then stopped by G-ma and G-pa's place to say Hi. I ended up talking on the phone with tech support for there router trying to get Mikhail's Internet working. It was really funny. Grandma had just left town and Grandpa and Mikhail did not know the answers to a bunch of the questions. I went to get on to Grandmas computer to do router trouble shooting when I noticed the MOUSE was missing. I looked and could not find it and nobody new where it had gone. So I called Grandma apparently she had hidden it. So let me run a bit of this conversation by you. "Hi this is Soheb how may I help you (he then gathered Mikhail's info while I finished changing a light bulb)" Mikhail so then there is a round circular cymbal with a "a". I insert a "at" sign. Mikhail relays this information. They continue for a couple of more minutes and then Mikhail asks me to talk to him. At this point Mikhail has said that he is trying to get his grandmas router working so his Internet will work. I then take over and say "this is Krista I'm Mikhail's cousin..." Then later I go Mikhail where is the mouse..."hold on a second apparently somebody walked off with the desktop mouse." As the call goes on I comment that I just stopped by to say hi he laughs and we both push on through. Nearing the end of the call he asks "is his Internet turned on" I turn to Mikhail and say is your Internet turned on. He says "There is a Internet button?" We look and sure enough his Internet is not turned on UURRGGG. We then trouble shooted a few more things and finally came to a end. It was truly funny I found myself laughing at us repeatedly as I tried to figure out what in the world was going on with there computers. Luckily Soheb had a good since of humor and he was also laughing along and did not get upset.

Bre and I went to see UP and the cheap theater. Mikhail said he would not go watch this "kid movie" with us (he had told us then repeatedly since Sunday afternoon). But then he shocked me by saying that when the Princess and the Toad movie comes he will go see that one with us. I was shocked and a little confused but hey who am I to complain. The movie was excellent I laughed really hard.

Catch up

Friday:
Bre and I went and helped out at the Fair on Friday it was a lot of fun and extremely busy. We had a line 10 min after the fair opened and it did not stop until ten minutes after Bre and I were off. There was a crazy lady and a choleric lady who were both kind of driving me crazy lol. We then looked around the fair we could not find the normal booths but we decided to go into the museum and lo and behold that was where all the booths were. Now don't ask me why they called it a museum there was nothing museumee about it. We had a good time looking at all the different stuff and we splurged and bought Ice Cream it was very good. We then rented Cinderfella (Jerry Lewis) and Mulan 2 and watched them. Holly was on this side of town so she stopped by and we talked for a little bit.

Saturday:
We went to Amy's baby shower and had an enjoyable time. The food was very good and Aunt S sent a BUNCH of it home with us. We then went to Office Max because they were having a really big sale and purchased stuff for school i.e. paper, pens, folders...we got it all for under $6. We then went home and took naps. G-ma called and invited us over to there house since they were not going to be able to hang out with us on Sunday. Bre was working but I went over and we put the pictures that I took of Amy's shower on her computer and then we played Scatergories it was fun. We ended the night with a movie and I went home and crashed.

Sunday:
We went to church and then afterwards we came straight home. Bre decided to plan her wedding so she played dress up using Arielle and I as her dolls I'm not quite sure what I think about being used as a virtual barbie. But the dresses that she choose are very nice. I took a nap and then got up and did laundry. Bre went to work and then I headed to work. I am listening to the Hobbit at work now. Oh the memorise.

Today:
I went and helped tear down the churches booth at the fair. I was the only girl and as always I had to overcome the stereo type of small ladies helping with heavy lifting jobs. I really enjoyed myself and no one broke any bones so it is all good. I then came home Bre and I ate lunch and are going to head to the Library as soon as her laundry is done. We both work tonight.

Weird Lane county happenings

Okay so this is completely unbelievable. So I was driving home and noticed a truck with a bunch of bright yellow triangle objects in the back and a person hiding in the middle of them trying to sneakily throw the objects off the truck. But the person was not doing a good job because the objects kept landing in the road and was messing up the flow of traffic. Well I continued on past these people and was contemplating what this could all mean when I noticed something!!! It looked as if I could get over into the left lane to turn onto Bailey from 11th sooner than normal and then it hit me the MEDIAN had been STOLEN. I know I could not believe it at first myself but to conform my fears a truck drove right over the top of where the median should have been. I being the concerned citizen that I am looked closer and it looked as if the police already new because you could see the outline of the median already traced out. I was in shock what could this all mean? Why would someone steal a large road median? And why was the guy hiding in the middle of all the medians? Well I continued my life so as not to attract attention the whole time contemplating these matters. But then I woke up in the middle of the night and I new the awful truth the guy in the truck with the triangle objects was just a diversion. The median had been stolen because someone wanted to show us that they could and then the plot thickened the signs that said are tax money was going towards this. Meant that it was a inside job and we would never see are friend the median again due to diplomatic immunity we could not convict the government and get the median back.

Now I told a not so elaborate version of this to a friend on campus here. The conversation went something like this "hey did you notice that someone stole the median on 11th." Her response "I did notice it was gone but I don't think anyone would steal it what would they do with it?" I lead her on for a couple of more seconds and then decided that it was to cruel and told her the truth. They removed the median because of the road construction they are about to start. It was not stolen I was just being dramatic. Some peoples kids you have to spell everything out for them.

Yesterday

So yesterday I actually had something to do and I was busy most the day!!! It was amazing. I went and donated Plasma in the morning. While there I heard that the weather was suppose to get up to 105 degrees. Now this stuck me as not good for a couple of reasons A) we do not have AC B) I was going to be outside in the sun most of the day. As you probably know the process of donating Plasma takes a lot of water out of your body. But the show most go on, so after finishing I went home and drank a LOT of water. I then killed about an hour and headed out. Now you might wonder where I could have been heading with such urgency on such a HOT day. Well I had volunteered to help the church out with there food booth at the fair. I arrived at the fair without getting lost and after figuring out where to park. Well figuring out the parking was a little bit weird because there where multiple parking lots that said welcome to the fair and then once you went to pull in they would say "Gotcha, you can't park here sucker." But after the third such attempt I saw the cowboys and they told me where to park. I'm not joking they had mounted security people on very pretty horses directing the parking. After walking around the fair staring at ever food booth and there personnel trying to recognize something or someone and talking to multiple people and making a phone call I located the booth. And it was the first one that I saw that I thought might be it. In other words I walked around it multiple times before noticing there aprons that said Calvary. But the reason I did not initially see there aprons was I was trying to not look like a stupid blonde staring at everyone bellies. I had a good time helping out no I did not get any ones names but I can tell you a random facts about them. I worked "the line" which means I put the food together in case you don't know. It was extremely hot and I consumed 2 bottles of water and 2 medium size cups of Sprite. I then went home and took a quick COOL shower and drank a bunch MORE water and went to work. I finished work and came home where I found a very good dinner that Bre had prepared. Now in light of the fact that mom can talk about such things I think it will be okay to comment that even with all that consumption of liquids I did not have to use the restroom I was sweating it all off. I did not take pictures but Bre and I are volunteering again tomorrow.

Pictures

Bre and I filmed are videos for new students and then Bre took some pictures and here are a few of them.

Sunday

Today Bre and I went to church it was a very nice service we started Joshua today and the sermon was about not living in fear. Bre and I signed up to help at the Lane County fair at the church booth on Friday and then when we finish we can go look around the fair for free woohoo.
After Church Bre and I went to Gateway to kill some time. G-ma and G-pa had to go out with the church board and have lunch with some potential youth pastors. While there we stopped at Target to get Amy's baby gift for her shower and seeing how we were hungry we picked up some cheap food at Target. As we were eating someone tried to leave Target and go into the rest of the mall when behold it was like she ran into a brick wall. The poor soul backed up and tried again with the same results. So she abandoned the cart and just left. So their signs...

are telling the truth and we did not have to go and try stealing one to find out lol. Later someone was able to use the cart it was a little rough at first but the wheels unlocked after about 20 feet.

So I wrote a very nice blog talking about the last couple of days and then blogger crashed or something and the post was lost.

Anyways Bre and I have been hanging out and working. We went to G-ma's and G-pa's and played cards yesterday. I went back this morning to see Heather and Nate off since I was unable to see them yesterday. I had lunch with G-ma and G-pa. I donated Plasma yesterday. I am still enjoying work. Life is basically moving. Nothing really exciting but anyway there it is. Oh we have also gone biking a couple of times.

Sunday

This Sunday they combined serves and had a 2 hour service instead. It was kind of odd. We had a 1/2 hour of worship and then a 1/2 hour or so of fellowship. Then we went back into the sanctuary and had Communion and a sermon...

After church there was a picnic out at some lake. Bre and I went home and grabbed are bikes and a few other items and then headed out there. It took us a while to find it since we were looking for a beach that was named after the lake. How were we to know that the name of the place was Bay Beach everyone kept saying we were going to Medano Lake. Anyway after turning around for the second time we came around a turn and there was a car in are lane coming towards us. I slammed on my breaks and the other car finished it's stupid maneuver of passing three cars on windy roads. Needless to say Bre and I just had to praise the Lord for His protection. It scared the ba gee ber out of us.

We then ate with G-ma and G-pa and rode are bikes and talked a little bit to different people. We came home I used the rest of the I-tones gift card Jamin gave me at Christmas and put the Dragon and the Raven by G A Henty on my I-pod and I went to work.

After work I grabbed Faith like Potatoes from the Red Box at Wal Mart and some Ice Cream and then went home and we watched the movie which was actually really good. It is a Christian movie and I was really shocked to find it in the Redbox when most of the movies were really bad.

Bre and I had Ice Cream after the movie and then we both automatically put water in are cups and left them in the sink. Now we never leave dishes in are sink but this just seemed like the thing to do. Habits die hard LOL.

I also spoke to the gas attendant people as they tried to fill up my car and they told me that Rhode Island used to have gas attendants to but they have now switched. This explained a lot to me since I used to speak to people from RI about the gas reward program and I never could understand why they were always so confused about how to swipe there reward card and pump there gas.
