Spring Break for me, Krista, was the week of 03/12-3/18 and we crammed it full of activity. On Monday, Kent and I made a trip to Davis-Montham Air Force Base in Tuscon so I could get my ID for the Chaplaincy Program and also to buy or order my uniforms.
Although none of this may sound too exciting in itself, for me it was exciting. When we first arrived at the base, we were at the wrong gate and after a couple adventures made our way to the correct gate. There I was able to get a pass on base with my paperwork but Kent could not, he being the trooper that he is, walked over to McDonald's to wait for me to get my ID. Getting the ID went smoothly and I was then able to sponsor Kent onto base so we could go uniform shopping.
I have always been proud of dad, and all uniformed service men and women, and it was with mixed excitement and awe that I purchased my own uniforms and am able to join their ranks. That being said, the blues pants are not comfortable and nothing fits like civilian clothing. It took a while but I was able to find or order everything in the right sizes. They even had a pair of size 3.5 men boots that fit me! (Someone had returned them to their location, they don't normally carry that size).
I had to order the top
While my blues pants and jacket were being tailored, Kent and I made a run to In n Out Burger and it was delicious as always. After picking up the blues we drove around the base briefly and I pointed at similarities to places I grew up to Kent, it was his first time on a military facility.
After those errands were done we still needed to find a library or Kinkos to scan some documents for the military and a Goodwill. My phone, was freaking out (it does not have service in Mexico so was trying to update everything) and kept giving us bad directions but we eventually accomplished everything and headed back to Mexico.
(I am going to skip Tuesday/Wednesday as Kent will write about that section of our week, just know we ended up in Empalme)
Bus ride to Empalme
Trying to figure out where we go after getting off the bus
Loading up supplies to deliver to people
Praise God for the blessing of this car!
Handing out supplies
More people we took supplies to
On Thursday, after a few errands, the four of us loaded into their car and headed to a conference in Kubal. The conference is put on by a Calvary Chapel from Phoenix, this is the church where Lilia and Artura's oldest son attends/works as well as Lilia sister and her family. We met up with about 8 other people from Imuris in Kubal and after registration went to, Dena's mom's house for some delicious tacos. Dena's mom and sister's also hosted all of us Wednesday night, they were amazing host.
The conference was nice. The people were all welcoming and loved God. We were able to chat with different missionaries from Mexico and hear what they were doing in the area. The worship was great and I believe the messages were also great, but they were in Spanish so I did not understand them :-(. We decided to head home Friday night, because we had another conference in Nogalis Saturday morning.
On Saturday, the whole church loaded into vehicles and we headed to Nogalis. The Open Bible church in Nogalis was hosting a conference and it was splendid. They had activities for the children, I felt slightly bad because I kept coming back with more children to drop off (the children all spread out before we discovered this amazing feature). They also served everyone lunch. The worship was once again amazing and I'm told the message were outstanding. The Lord moved in many of the lives of the people that went and it was a great conference.
And that draws my Spring Break to a close.
