Escuelita Activities

We continue to do class with the children in the morning followed by a variety of activities. These pictures are some of the things we have done, I am horrible at remembering the camera...

Planting Flowers (When we started we only had metal silverware and a hammer... It was actually working surprisingly well)

We have gone on several nature walks around the neighborhood and down in the valley surrounding us

Baking projects are also a hit! We normally are so busy we forget pictures but here we made Puppy Chow.

The kids were working on putting their English words into sentences.

The week of camp and the following week were Spring Break for the children and youth here. We decided we wanted to do something special with the children who live at the orphanage, we asked to take them to the movies in Nogalis. Originally we were going to take the youth as well, but they had already made plans to go see a movie the following day, so we only took the younger ones.

We piled eleven people into my car and headed for the city. On our way there we discovered that of the eight children, only two had ever been to a movie theater! The theater was a fun new adventure for the children and they had a great time. We watched the Smurfs...

The lighting did not appear terrible in real life...

After the movie we walked around the mall briefly and took a few photos.

We wrapped up the afternoon with happy meals from Mcdonalds and the children ran off energy in the play structure. While we were there one of the McDonald employee did face painting for all of the kids.

It was a special day.

Campa2017

We had been hearing about "camp" for about a month but we were not sure that it was really going to happen. Mostly because fundraising had not happened as needed and we had not heard any details. Well the week of camp came around and we were told that we were taking our youth to camp. So on Thursday Alejandro, Kent and I took the youth up to Campa2017. In my mind I was picturing a retreat, similar to what we had already been to, but that is not what this was. Campa2017 was a full blown camp with services, workshops, teams and games. This was a great time to connect and built friendships with the youth. It was amazing to watch the Lord work in everyone's lives, yes including mine.

This was the days leading up to Easter and ended on Easter Sunday. So we were all picked up from camp and met the church for a time of fellowship at a park/pool in the area. It was great to see everyone and hang out and share what God had been doing at camp.

Choydeo

Alejandra, Jessica, and their family decided we needed a vacation and invited us to their house in Choydeo. Choydeo is a beautiful fishing village and the Sea of Mexico. We had an amazing and relaxing time hanging out with them and enjoying the ocean and all of God's beauty. Of course we also ate a LOT!
